JSC "Corporation for the Development of the Murmansk Region" receives broad powers and opportunities in the implementation of investment policy, becoming a universal tool for searching, promoting and supporting projects in the Arctic. The corresponding decision was made at a meeting of the Government of the Murmansk Region on October 28, 2020.

The need for such tool is caused by the new conditions for doing business in the Arctic in general and in the Murmansk region in particular, explained the head of the region Andrey Chibis, opening the meeting. The Governor stressed that the approval by the President of the Russian Federation of the Strategy for the Development of the Arctic makes the Murmansk Region the flagship of this development. The document identifies the development of the port of Murmansk and the Murmansk transport hub, enterprises of the marine and fishery complex, the creation of a Center for the construction of large-capacity marine structures, the renovation of closed administrative administrative units, the development of a vocational education system, tourist and recreational clusters and a number of other areas. Taking into account the unprecedented preferences for business in the Arctic of the Murmansk Region adopted at the federal and regional levels, a reboot of the system of work with investors is required, noted Andrey Chibis.

"It is fundamentally important that the leadership that the Murmansk region has acquired today in structuring projects, accompanying them and obtaining the necessary support, this success was developed, and the system of working with investors moved to a new level," said the Governor, passing the floor to the General Director of JSC "Corporation for the Development of the Murmansk Region" to Svetlana Panfilova.
In her speech, Svetlana Panfilova stressed that the Corporation's mission is to become the locomotive of all work with investors and investments in the region. With the participation of the Development Corporation, ASEZ "Capital of the Arctic", proposals of the Murmansk region in a package of bills to support business in the Arctic zone of the Russian Federation have been worked out. The organization provided support to polar projects, which received federal co-financing within the framework of the Arctic development instruments.

“Our tasks have three directions. The first is to attract as many investors as possible to the region. The second is to accompany their projects, provide them with a favorable investment climate and continue to improve it. And the third is to work with the investment infrastructure: sites, territories where an investor can potentially enter and implement their projects,” said the head of the Development Corporation.
