Three more applications from companies in Murmansk region for obtaining the status of a resident of the Arctic zone of the Russian Federation were approved - the first in the coming year. As the regional governor Andrei Chibis said during the meeting, these are projects to create a terminal in Murmansk for warehousing and storage of equipment and cargo with a capacity of more than 60 thousand tons per year, to open a network of mini-hotels in the Kandalaksha region and to build a plant for the production of abrasive materials in Nikel. ...

“The leadership of the Murmansk region in the Arctic zone in terms of attracting investments, creating new projects has already been recorded at the federal level. I urge all municipalities, entrepreneurs, the Development Corporation to move even more actively in order to preserve this leadership and do everything necessary so that investments, new jobs, new industries and business projects appear on the territory of the Murmansk Region. We need economic growth in order to have financial resources to implement projects in the social sphere,” the governor emphasized.

Companies-residents of the Russian Arctic receive a package of preferences for doing business in the Arctic zone, such as significant benefits on basic taxes, subsidizing insurance premiums for new jobs, provision of land plots without bidding, the free customs zone procedure and others. In 2020, 14 economic entities became residents of the Arctic zone from the Murmansk region.
